NEXUS BLASTS BACK TO COMIC SHOPS IN NEXUS: SCOURGE MINI-SERIES

The creator-owned superhero created by Mike Baron & Steve Rude returns to the direct market with a special two-part series launching in December.
Alien Books, is partnering with writer Mike Baron to release NEXUS: SCOURGE, a new two-issue comic series, to direct market comic shops in December 2024.
NEXUS: SCOURGE is written by Nexus co-creator Mike Baron with art by Kelsey Shannon (Batman Adventures) and letters by Warren Montgomery and features titular hero Nexus hunting down the truth behind an unknown and deadly force that is disappearing planets and putting the universe in immense danger. With the odds stacked against him and having few leads, Nexus must dig deep to solve this mystery before time runs out!
Originally debuting in an original graphic novel format through Kickstarter, this triumphant tale of mind-bending science fiction spectacle will now be released as two special issues available only in comic book shops.
"Nexus found its success in big part thanks to the support of comic shop retailers," said series writer Mike Baron.
"We knew that we wanted NEXUS: SCOURGE to return to the direct market to continue that proud tradition of being available in comic shops, so it was all about finding the right publishing partner to help us do that. When we connected with Matias at Alien Books and heard his enthusiasm and passion for the character, we knew right away it was a good fit."
Co-created in 1981 by Mike Baron and Steve Rude and originally published by Capital Comics, Nexus is the longest running independent superhero in American comics and has won multiple Eisner, Inkpot, and Russ Manning awards over the past 40 years. The latest iteration of Nexus is illustrated by industry veteran Kelsey Shannon, a self professed "Nexus super-fan" whose dynamic character work has been seen in the pages of Archie Comics, DC, and Image.
"I've been a fan of the Nexus character and stories by Mike Baron and Steve Rude for decades," explains Alien Books Director Matias Timarchi. "We're always looking to bring to market titles that will excite readers and NEXUS: SCOURGE is a great sci-fi story filled with action, intrigue, and incredible artwork, so it definitely fits the bill!"
New readers and long-time fans must prepare themselves for an interstellar mystery that takes them beyond the unknown!
The first issue of NEXUS: SCOURGE goes on sale in comic book shops December 18, 2024 and features covers by Kelsey Shannon, Caanan White and Peter Orchard and will retail for $4.99.
