Nicodemo and Sandria Darque were born in 1812, in Louisiana. The mother died after a difficult childbirth, but despite the loss, they were perfect in their father's eyes.
They grew up in their father's plantation. He wanted them to learn the art of magic from a young age, and while he was their teacher, the twins also learned from the slaves.
Nicodemo was terribly studious and couldn't understand that Sandria, who claimed to be studing just as much, preferred playing with her pet rabbit instead. The pet was accidentally killed by Nicodemo in a fit of frustation. The spell for resurrection left them with a hellish beast, and they father intervened. A lesson was learned nontheless: life comes from live, magic requires an exchange.
All this training was in lieu of helping their father reached Lyceum, a place beyond all that's known where everything could be learned. The ultimate price to pay was Sandria's life. Nicodemo confronted their father, killed him, and managed to resurrect his sister.
Soon after they left their childhood home to become traveling mystics. It's at this point that Ivar the Timewalker recently informed of having met them in 1882.
At some point during the US Civil War, Sandria tried to leave her brother, after he became a nihilistic. She fell in love with a soldier, Marius Boniface, and she was giving birth to their baby when Nicodemo attacked them. As the baby was born dead, Sandria used the sacrifice to bond Marius to the Shadow Loa, a spirit of the voodoo known for being the breaker of chains. The bond would be inherited from generation to generation, until the present day.
With the help of Ninjak and Punk Mambo, the current Shadowman, Jack Boniface, imprisoned the twins inside the Ring of Solomon. They dwell in its pocket dimension, the Soulside.
OTHER DETAILS: The twins have a complicated relationship, but most of all, they are each others best match in necromancy.
